Best Laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud Buying Guide
If you think that selecting the best laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud is a daunting task, then think again. To help you out, we have prepared a list of the best laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud based on their configurations, storage, and quality features.
Technology has gone a long way, and it has become very popular among people. You might think that laptops are only for entertainment purposes, but think again. They have not only replaced desktops but now smartphones too. The market is abundant with numerous brands who claim their model as the best laptop for Adobe Creative Cloud. Before buying a laptop, think that how you would be using it.
Think of these things before you think to go for buying laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud:
I think that adding RAM to your laptop is a wastage of money, think again. Nowadays, there are laptops in the market with up to 16GB RAM! So when buying think that you should go for as much as possible. This will speed up your computer and you won’t even feel lag at some point.
When it comes to buying laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud, think that you should go for the latest generation processor. This is because it will automatically increase your laptop’s efficiency and performance. Plus, it won’t hamper the battery life of your laptop either.
The processor is the brain of a computer. If you think that you are not going to play heavy games or perform any high-end tasks on your laptop, then think again. You might think that an i5 or i7 processor will do the work for you, but think again. Nowadays, even processors are built keeping in mind different types of technologies. For example, Intel core processors with high clock speed can also be included in this category.
If you think that laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud with hard disk drive only are capable of handling programs like Adobe Creative Cloud, then think again. They lack the required speed to handle programs like these. So, if your budget allows it then go for laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud with a solid-state drive (SSD) only.
Think of the storage capacity you think you need. It can be in two forms, HDD or SSD. I think that HDD will do the work for you then think again. This is because they have lower speeds as compared to SSD. Also, chances are there that your laptop might start heating up if it has an HDD only.
Nowadays, there are two types of graphics cards available. One is the integrated graphics and the other is the dedicated graphics. So, if you think that buying laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud with a dedicated graphics card will make your work faster, then think again. This is because even they heat up very easily and laptop manufacturers do not recommend using it too long.
Select laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud by checking their batteries. If you will be working for hours, then think that how much time it can give with one full charge. This is important as choosing the best laptops for Adobe Creative Cloud with a good battery life increases its portability level. Operating system: If think that you only need Windows for Adobe Creative Cloud, then think again. There are many other operating systems available out there that do not require any introduction such as Linux and Mac OS.
Creative Cloud for Desktop
Adobe Creative Cloud is made up of six primary tools: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. Adobe has a great tech specs page that explains in more detail the requirements of each tool. Suffice to say, they’re capable applications with significant system resource needs. Here are our recommendations for laptops capable of handling the workloads:
The workflow explained above uses two primary tools – Photoshop and Premiere Pro. The third step happens in After Effects, which helps you preview the final product before exporting it out to your desired file format. Illustrator is sometimes used to create custom graphics or even edit images further (e.g. adding filters via Live Trace). InDesign is a tool for laying out various types of documents, as well as images and graphic elements. Finally, Dreamweaver is what you’d use to create websites from scratch.
As the “workhorse” application in Adobe Creative Cloud (it’s used in nearly every project), Illustrator has a pretty daunting set of system requirements. Adobe’s official specs require a processor faster than an Intel Core i7 Duo, 8 GBs or more RAM, and a graphics card that supports OpenGL 3D acceleration.
There are two approaches you can take to selecting the right laptop for Illustrator:
1) Boost performance by going with the Adobe recommended specs, or 2) save money and get a laptop that can only handle the minimum requirements. If you’re trying to take the cheapest route possible, we strongly recommend getting a dedicated graphics card because they tend to be much faster than Intel HD integrated graphics chips.
In reality, most laptops today should be able to handle Illustrator without any issues. If you’re unsure about your specific laptop model, shoot us an email with the specs and we’ll let you know if it will work fine or not.
Adobe After Effects
After Effects is a bit easier to run (though it still requires significant processing power). According to Adobe’s official specs, the minimum requirements are a 2.4+ GHz processor, 8 GBs of RAM, and a graphics card that supports OpenGL 3D acceleration.
As we explained above though, the best approach is to aim for the Adobe recommended specs because they’ll give you a lot more power. Just remember to get a dedicated graphics card rather than trying to rely solely on Intel HD integrated graphics.
Adobe Premiere Pro
While Premiere Pro doesn’t need quite as much power as, After Effects, it’s still a very demanding application. In fact, we’ve even seen cases where lower-voltage CPUs can bottleneck performance because they don’t provide enough clock speed. For that reason, we recommend using at least an Intel Core i5 processor (quad-core or better) and going with NVIDIA graphics if possible.
Dreamweaver is the tool to use when you want to create a website from scratch (it’s not recommended for modifying existing websites). It offers similar performance demands as Premiere Pro, which means you should aim for an Intel Core i5 processor and NVIDIA graphics. Keep in mind that laptops with Intel Iris are usually not powerful enough to run Dreamweaver without some performance issues.
While Photoshop is the most widely used application in Creative Cloud (there’s a reason why it’s Adobe’s best-selling product), it doesn’t have nearly as demanding system requirements as Premiere Pro, After Effects, or even Illustrator. It’s mostly used for image retouching, applying filters, and editing photos.
For that reason, you can get away with using a much older laptop. In fact, Photoshop is even the “recommended application” in some of Adobe’s laptops (e.g. the HP Envy 15). As long as it has at least 8 GBs of RAM and a decent processor, you should be fine.
Just like Photoshop, you can use pretty much any modern laptop for Adobe Lightroom. The app is mostly used to organize and edit a large number of photos at once (e.g. making different adjustments to specific parts of the photo). On top of that, it’s relatively lightweight in terms of system resources – there’s no hardware acceleration or OpenGL requirements.
Adobe Animate (Flash)
Animate is one of the few Creative Cloud apps that doesn’t require a 64-bit version, which means you can use it on pretty much any laptop out there. It’s also the only application in Adobe’s Design and Web Premium Suite that doesn’t come with a GPU requirement, so you can use Intel HD graphics instead of a dedicated graphics card.
In short, if you’re looking for the cheapest laptop with Creative Cloud included, Animate is currently your best option. Keep in mind however that it’s pretty much discontinued and will be replaced by Adobe Edge (an HTML5 animation tool) at some point.
Adobe Bridge & Adobe Device Central You don’t need much processing power to use these two desktop applications, but they do require a decent amount of RAM (8 GBs at the very least). They also both have “recommended system requirements” for best performance.
The good news is that they’re not graphics-intensive either. As long as your laptop has a decent processor and at least 8 GBs of RAM, you should be good to go.
We recommend the Dell XPS 13 or 15, Microsoft Surface Pro 7, and Apple MacBook Pro. All three laptops are excellent choices for Adobe Creative Cloud programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. The MacBook is great for people who want a powerful laptop that is easy to travel with because it’s lightweight but still has enough power to handle intensive workflows like video editing and rendering 3D models in Cinema 4D.
If you’re looking for something more versatile than the standard laptop form factor, then we highly encourage checking out Microsoft Surface Pro 7 which starts at around $800 on Amazon. This hybrid device offers both tablet functionality as well as.
